The formula for a perfect, balanced, chilled-out Saturday is pretty simple: Embrace the summer monsoon with this Gange-a-Midi track. / Practice 90 mins of yoga with Jessica, followed by 90 mins of Thai massage basics with Rob and Casi. / Purchase 1 serving of cold, refrigerated Vita Coco and thank god you finally love coconut water and thus, feel normal. / Come up to the Stricklands, home away from home away from home… / Show Gracie some tricks of the trade… I have to say, it is friggin awesome and inspiring seeing a 7-yr-old do half of the Dharma II stuff I would normally teach in class! Crow to headstand included! Honestly, if I’d started this young… … I would’ve probably been taken off the planet by now. / Witnessing Mo Farah beat The Cube… WITH 6 LIVES LEFT! What a legend. Really, truly, made of gold! / Master Sun said: ‘Know the enemy, Know yourself, And victory Is never in doubt, Not in a hundred battles.’ He who knows self But not the enemy Will suffer one defeat For every victory. He who knows Neither self Nor enemy Will fail In every battle. – #futureplanning – comp analysis. Status: complete. Sweet. =)

Malcolm Gladwell

Cinnamon Toast Crunch – my guilty pleasure. And it’s no secret either! Anyone that knows me will realize how perfect the combination of cinnamon + cereal is… YUM! – Yea, it’s so good, they eat each other! =p / Tonight, I’m glad I listened to my body and went home instead of going to my physical yoga practice. It is very rare these days that I come home any earlier than 10pm. So when I do, it’s amazing how much can get done. Just because I ain’t moving, doesn’t mean I ain’t doing. I’m grateful I spent the time tonight, taking the necessary steps, reaching out to the people I need to, to keep my yoga internship and futureplanning on track. 10, 000 hours. That’s how many hours Malcolm Gladwell reckons it takes to become an “expert” at something – whatever it is you put your mind to. Well, rest assured that tonight, I logged my hours. I scraped 6 more hours  off my 10, 000. And it felt good =) After all, you gotta plant the seeds today, if you want a tree tomorrow =)

Grateful for Nawaz – best indian restaurant in town! No, seriously. Just don’t tell your friends ok? Don’t want this place getting too mobbed! =p / Love trudging through snow! =) I’m one of those people that will purposefully go out of my way to trudge and slush and smush through snow! I actually got in trouble twice tonight for accidentally kicking snow onto people’s legs at the bus stop. hahaha / Drink Shop & Do – what an awesome venue and concept for a bar cum cafe cum arts and crafts centre cum shop cum night club. ❤ it. / World Mate – the travel app that will (and already has!) made my life a whole lot easier and will hopefully mean I will never miss another flight in my life again! =D / Tash, Badger – love you both. Very much grateful to still have you in my life =) So great seeing and spending time with you tonight. Here’s to good ol’ no. 48. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.” – seems only appropriate that I quote Mr Dickens, considering we lived right next door =)  x

Day 179: My first set of snow gear, Ping Pong and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali…

Grateful for the sales at Mountain Warehouse. Meant I got to purchase my first set of snowgear for this weekend! Woo! Exciting times ahead =) / Grateful for Ping Pong and 3.5 hours of catching up with Leigh. It continuous to amaze me how much our lives parallel each other. It’s really weird. Every time we speak or meet, there’s about 5 more detailed facts we find out about each other that makes us go… “Okay. That’s weird. Don’t freak out but…” I love it. I don’t get it. But I love it. I’m grateful we can connect that way =) / The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali… finally completed Books 1 and 2 and really loved and truly, fully, appreciated every second reading it. I’m grateful this was on my booklist and I was encouraged to delve into this properly. This and the Bhagavad Gita… the best chicken soup combo for the soul =)

Day 144: The Bhagavad Gita.

December 14, 2011 § 4 Comments

Bhagavad Gita

With only one and a half chapters left to go, I think I am justified in saying that this is probably one of the most important and influential books I’ve ever read and will most likely ever read. I understand now why Radhika kept saying I must have been a Hindu in my past life. Never have I come across a piece of text – of poetry – that speaks to and resonates with the deepest thoughts and feelings of my heart. Reading this is like listening to an echo of myself that I have, at some point in time, recorded and thrown into the ether. And which has now come back to me. When you hold this book in your hand, it is like holding the hand of your bestest friend, your lover and your mother all at the same time. I am, and forever will be, grateful for this. / “Fear Not. What is not real, never was and never will be. What is real, always was and cannot be destroyed.”
